Here’s the deal:
I have found that as someone once said: “you can have it all…just not all at the same time!” I am a mom of many (okay, five to be exact), married to the man of my dreams. Family first: always – that goes without saying. However, I feel an intense need to celebrate what people are good at, make connections and find goodness around me. I am the consummate “jack of all trades, master of none” and love nature, competitive sports, music, travel, and culture. That being said, what really jazzes me is business. ALL things business. Growth in particular. I read anything I can get my hands on, print: Chicago Tribune, WSJ, NYT, Barron’s, Fortune, Forbes, Time, and digital (after my Twitter lists) : techcrunch, mashable, businessinsider, AllthingsD, etc and I especially love Chicago business and stay current by reading Crain’s as well as local group info like Built in Chicago, ChicagoInno, Technori, CEC, Entrpreneurs Unpluggd, Kellogg World, Make It Better, Pioneer press info, and all of my kids’ school newspapers.
Running Chicago for Kleiner Perkins-funded Plum District, (the largest deal site in America targeted toward moms) gave me the chance to work in a fiercely competitive industry with the use of cutting edge tech tools at my disposal. In a strange way, I bridge the gap of the “old world” and the “new world” – I am the “old world” MBA consulting/sales/bus development person with the “new world” tools of tech (rapid pace, scale quickly, social media utilizer, blog understander).
